Guardian Pharmacy Services, Inc. (NYSE: GRDN), one of the nation’s largest and most innovative long-term care (LTC) pharmacy services companies, today announced the acquisition of assets from Tennessee-based Nautilus Pharmacy, including prescription files, related pharmacy inventory, and certain fixed assets.
Nautilus serves assisted living communities across 14 states, primarily through mail order from a single centralized pharmacy location. Guardian will transition pharmacy services for Nautilus-served residents to 18 Guardian pharmacies serving the markets where they reside. The acquisition provides former Nautilus community partners with access to Guardian’s comprehensive LTC pharmacy services, delivered through locally managed pharmacies backed by the resources, technology, and capabilities of a national organization.
“Guardian has built its business around the belief that local service coupled with a deep understanding of the communities we serve is critical to effectively addressing the complexities of medication management,” said David Brown, senior vice president of the Central Region at Guardian Pharmacy Services. “By transitioning these community partners and residents from mail order service to Guardian pharmacies already operating in their markets, we are bringing pharmacy services closer to these customers, providing the local accountability, responsiveness, and senior care expertise Guardian customers depend on.”
The integration is being led by David Brown in close collaboration with other regional senior vice presidents, including Marybeth Terry in the East Region, and local pharmacy teams across Guardian’s broader pharmacy network. Guardian will welcome more than half of Nautilus Pharmacy’s employees, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, helping to provide continuity for community partners and residents.
“This acquisition is consistent with the typical size of opportunities we target as part of our disciplined growth strategy and demonstrates the value of our regional leadership structure in identifying and successfully executing on high-return growth opportunities,” said Fred Burke, president and chief executive officer. “Importantly, it also represents a highly efficient use of capital for growth, allowing us to leverage the operating capacity of our existing pharmacies to further scale while maintaining the local service and support that differentiates Guardian.”
