Scala.AI, the first AI operating system for contact centers and customer operations, today announced the appointment of Asic Demberel as Chief Technology Officer and a member of the company’s executive team.
Demberel joins Scala following more than a decade at Amazon, where he was repeatedly tapped to build and lead new technology initiatives across AWS and Amazon Health Services. His experience spans AI and machine learning, large scale infrastructure, health care technology and some of Amazon’s most complex zero to one programs.
Throughout his tenure, Demberel helped take ambitious ideas from concept to production, often working across engineering, product, operations and executive leadership to assemble teams and create new capabilities quickly. His work included helping launch Amazon Fraud Detector from an internally funded concept, leading core technology efforts supporting Amazon’s pandemic response and directing enterprise integration architecture for Amazon Pharmacy.
He later served as General Manager for Amazon Pharmacy Kiosks, overseeing more than a dozen teams spanning software, hardware and clinical operations. Across those roles, Demberel developed a track record of stepping into complex, high-priority initiatives, creating structure where little existed and building technology designed to operate at Amazon scale.
“Asic brings a rare combination of technical depth, product leadership and the ability to turn ambitious ideas into systems that operate at scale,” said Ardie Sameti, cofounder and CEO of Scala.AI. “We are building the AI operating system for contact centers and customer operations, bringing intelligence, orchestration and execution together in one platform. Asic will be instrumental in advancing that vision, strengthening our technical foundation and helping us move faster as we scale.”
As Chief Technology Officer, Demberel will shape Scala’s technology strategy and lead the continued development of its AI operating system. His focus will include advancing Scala’s intelligence and agentic capabilities, scaling its architecture and engineering organization, and ensuring the platform can support increasingly complex enterprise environments.
“What attracted me to Scala is the combination of an ambitious technical vision and a very real operating problem,” said Demberel. “Much of my work at Amazon involved taking complex ideas that did not yet have an obvious path forward, building the teams and systems around them and turning them into capabilities that could scale. I see a similar opportunity at Scala. Customer operations are becoming increasingly intelligent and increasingly complex, and there is an opportunity to create a new operating layer that brings intelligence, orchestration and execution together. I’m excited to help build that.”
Scala is creating a new operating layer for customer operations, connecting conversations, workflows, operational data, human agents and AI agents into one intelligent system. The platform helps leaders understand what is happening across their operations, determine why problems occur and coordinate action across people, processes and automation.
